Frequently Asked Questions

Got a question about sailing with Svetko Boat Tours? Find all the answers about our departures, routes, onboard amenities, and policies below.

Location, Logistics & Weather

All of our boat tours depart from the main pier in Portorož (Glavni pomol Portorož), located at Trg prekomorskih brigad. Look for the traditional wooden ship "Svetko" docked at the pier. Please arrive 15 to 20 minutes before your scheduled departure time for check-in.

Your safety and comfort are our top priorities. If the sea conditions are poor or there is a strong "burja" (northern wind), we may shift to a calmer, protected route (such as toward the Sečovlje Salt Pans). In the event of severe weather or an insufficient number of guests, we reserve the right to cancel the tour. If we cancel, you will be offered the choice to reschedule for a new date or receive a full refund.

The Onboard Experience

Absolutely! Families are more than welcome. Infants (0-3 years) ride for free on our standard tours, and children (3-12 years) receive a discounted ticket price.

Yes, there is enough space for a baby stroller on the boat. Please make sure it’s empty during boarding - children must not stay in the stroller. After boarding, the stroller must be folded, stowed away, and secured properly.

Yes, dogs and other pets are welcome to join the adventure! We just ask that they are kept on a leash and supervised by their owners at all times.

Because the Svetko is an authentic, historic wooden vessel built in 1884, it features steps and narrow passages. Unfortunately, it is not wheelchair accessible.

Yes, there is a clean restroom (toilet) available on board for all passengers.

Panoramic Coastal Cruise (Portorož to Izola)

The daytime panoramic cruise takes approximately 4 hours. You will enjoy sightseeing from the water as we sail past the Venetian architecture of Piran, Fiesa, the Strunjan shellfish farm, Moon Bay, the towering 80-meter Strunjan cliff, and White Rocks beach (Bele skale).

Yes, the boat docks centrally in Izola for 2 hours (approx. 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM). This time is unguided, allowing you to independently explore the historic old town, enjoy a coffee, or swim at Svetilnik beach.

Yes, complimentary refreshments are provided on board the 4-hour cruise, including water, juice, and local Slovenian white wine.

Sunset Cruises

Because the time of sunset changes throughout the summer, our departure times fluctuate. The sunset cruise runs every Wednesday from June through September. Please check our booking calendar for the exact departure time on your chosen date.

The sunset cruise is a continuous, relaxed 1-hour sail along the Portorož and Piran coastline (there are no land stops). It includes 1 to 2 glasses of chilled sparkling wine per adult, with non-alcoholic options available.

Private Charters & Lunch Cruises

If you booked the Panoramic Cruise with Lunch, the meal is served directly on the deck of our wooden ship! After your 2 hours of free time exploring Izola, you will return to the boat. While we are securely docked at the Izola pier, you will enjoy your freshly prepared 3-course meal before we set sail back to Portorož.

Yes! While our standard menu features fresh local fish or mixed meat, we gladly prepare a delicious vegetarian or vegan plate upon request. Please mention any dietary restrictions or food allergies in the notes when booking so our crew can prepare your meal accordingly.

Seveda (Of course)! The Svetko is a fantastic floating venue for team-building events, weddings, and private parties. We offer complete customization of the itinerary, catering, drinks, and music. Please send us an inquiry via our contact form to get a custom quote.
